Events and Community Engagement
Rosie's Place x Boston College Art Exchange
Mission:
Inspire and facilitate the use of the arts for personal expression and catharsis, within an underprivileged community in the Boston-area, by sharing our university’s artistic resources.

Approach:
First, identify Rosie's Place Women's Shelter as the best fit community for our goal. Then, organize logistics: arrange for BC arts groups to perform, overcome scheduling obstacles, utilize budget to hire external transportation services and sound equipment, and advertise event. Finally, execute event and forge a sustainable artistic exchange between Rosie's Place and BC.

Result:
Over 100 attendees from Rosie’s Place community; ensured continuation of future partnership by securing commitment of Boston College Robsham Theater to donate theater tickets for April 2019 to meet Rosie's Place's demand, and by scheduling a future Boston College University Chorale performance at Rosie’s Place.

Finally, execute event and donate half of all proceeds from suggested entrance fees and concession stand to Historical Homes of Hunterdon County. Event website: https://livinghistorynight.weebly.com/

Result:
Around 150 attendees from school and local community; Living History Night is now the main annual activity of Rho Kappa and continues to grow presently, attracting more attendees every year; Rho Kappa maintains an ongoing partnership with Historical Homes of Hunterdon county, allowing members to earn required school service hours by volunteering at the homes.
